Incentives help Iowa Spring invest in a more efficient future

Iowa Spring – a family-owned manufacturing business located in Dallas County, Iowa – is investing in the future of their business by participating in MidAmerican’s Small Business Express program.

Iowa Spring manufactures high-quality springs for the garage door, mechanical and agricultural industries. The company decided it was time to upgrade their dust collection system with a variable frequency drive (VFD) to run their operations more efficiently and manage operational costs more effectively. As part of their process, a VFD is used to optimize the dust collection system, with varying fan speeds that allow them to save energy!

“We knew this upgrade was needed to reduce energy consumption, lower utility costs and decrease mechanical wear on the system,” Brian Setchell, president of Iowa Spring, said.

To get started, Iowa Spring partnered with qualified service provider The Baker Group. The Baker Group completed an initial assessment of their current equipment, then provided the best upgrade option for Iowa Spring’s needs. Through Small Business Express, MidAmerican preapproved financial incentives to help offset nearly half of the project costs.
