That includes ongoing inspection and maintenance of our distribution system, upgrades to meter technology, and thoughtful planning to ensure infrastructure is ready to serve homes and businesses now and in the future. Whether it’s modernizing equipment, extending service to support growth or strengthening the system through routine reliability work, we take a disciplined, long-term approach – because dependable service starts with steady investments.

Empowering Customers

In the Nebraska communities we serve, empowerment means giving customers straightforward options that help manage their energy use and their budgets.
 
Natural gas customers can take advantage of rebates for high-efficiency furnaces, water heaters and qualifying tune-ups, helping make energy-saving upgrades more affordable. Business customers have access to similar programs that support efficient natural gas usage and long-term cost management.
 
For households looking for more predictability, Budget Billing spreads seasonal costs into consistent monthly payments, making expenses easier to plan for. And, when times are challenging, help is available. We connect eligible customers with heating assistance resources, such as LIHEAP through the state of Nebraska, and  our I CARE program provides additional community-based support.
 
When customers make informed choices about energy usage, budgeting and assistance programs, it strengthens not only their households and businesses, but the communities we serve.

MidAmerican is powered by about 3,000 employees across our service territory – including team members who live and work in Nebraska. They’re neighbors and friends who want to see their communities thrive. That same care and commitment shows up beyond our day-to-day work. In 2025, our employees volunteered more than 450 hours through our CARES program at outdoor cleanups, community festivals, collection drives, fundraisers and more. Volunteering is just one way our teams show up for the communities we serve.

Investing in Nebraska Communities

The MidAmerican Energy Foundation supports organizations that strengthen Nebraska communities.
 
That includes the Dakota Thurston County Fair, which brings people together and highlights youth achievement and local agriculture. The Foundation partners with Junior Achievement of the Midlands to help students build financial literacy and workplace skills that open doors for the future. Its support of the Siouxland YMCA helps expand access to youth programs and wellness opportunities. And through Together Inc. of Omaha, the Foundation helps connect individuals and families with food, housing and critical support services when they need it most.
