MidAmerican Community to Excellence Badge
Our operations and front-line crews work 24/7, 365 days a year to safely keep the lights on and the gas flowing, no matter the weather conditions.

Our field positions include line mechanics, gas technicians, turbine specialists, substation electricians, among others. Each field operations employee begins as an apprentice in one of our Registered Apprenticeship programs, where they receive hands-on instruction from highly skilled professionals. The line mechanic apprenticeship program specifically requires a certificate or degree from a one-year, approved line school before applying for our two-year program.

Our number one goal is to provide safe, reliable and renewable energy to our customers – that’s our Commitment to Excellence. And we do that with the support of our union partners at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Locals 109 and 499 and United Steel Workers Local 738. Together, we are able to improve the way we work, serve more customers, share knowledge and create new skilled work opportunities.

Our safety culture

We take safety very seriously in every part of our business. All of our front-line crews are trained to do their job efficiently and safely. And, with our state-of-the-art Training Center for Excellence, our crews have many opportunities to learn their craft and practice in realistic conditions so that they’re prepared for whatever might come their way.

Employment Testing

National Careers Readiness Certificate
We support the National Careers Readiness Certificate and recommend that candidates obtain the NCRC for submission with their application credentials for all positions. For more information regarding the NCRC and how to obtain a certificate, visit www.nationalcareerreadiness.org.

Edison Electric Institute
MidAmerican partners with the Edison Electric Institute for pre-placement and pre-employment tests. EEI practice tests are similar to the actual selection tests. The practice tests cover the same concepts, are presented in the same format and allow users to monitor their own time as well as receive answers with brief explanations.
