Our customers and employees share a pride in the places they call home. And because vibrant, growing communities benefit everyone, we show our support through volunteering, sponsorships, career exploration and a commitment to building an inclusive and diverse workforce. Fostering diversity and inclusion is a priority for MidAmerican as we prepare to meet the challenges facing us in the coming decade.
What is MidAmerican Energy CARES?
Through our corporate citizenship program, CARES, our business contributes to every facet of the communities we serve – through employee volunteers, partnerships with local organizations, donations and more. CARES stands for Community Enhancement, Arts and Culture, Environmental Respect, Education/STEM and Safety.

In 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, our employees volunteered over 6,500 hours and we donated $500,000 for urgent community needs. Submit your event details and our volunteers will be there.

If you have a local project or event that you would like us to consider supporting, please email Kathryn Kunert, Vice President, Economic Connections and Integration. If you have questions about the program, email CARES@midamerican.com.

MidAmerican's corporate citizenship activities are funded in part by our annual corporate giving or through the MidAmerican Energy Foundation. The Foundation is made up of MidAmerican Energy shareholders who believe in supporting community initiatives across our service territory. The Foundation is funded through shareholder dollars, not from customers.

Sustainable Story Icon - Social
After years of supporting youth programming, MidAmerican and Junior Achievement of Central Iowa decided to take our partnership to the next level. Beyond sponsoring regular events, our organizations are working together to create career readiness programs that help achieve the mission of Junior Achievement while enriching the talent pipeline of diverse, career-ready individuals needed to support our communities in the future.
