Known for their environmental friendliness, decreased operating costs, reduced need for maintenance, plus ease of use, electric vehicles (EVs) are rapidly growing in popularity across the U.S.
MidAmerican Energy understands that a majority of our customers are also interested in the benefits of emissions-free vehicles, which is why we are offering a multi-faceted program to make EVs more affordable and accessible in our service territory.
Financial rebates for both residential and business customers and a first-of-its-kind EV fast-charging network will increase the adoption of new technologies, support the Iowa Energy Plan and offer customers ways to save money on transportation costs. Plus, expanding the adoption of EVs supports our vision to provide 100% renewable energy to our Iowa customers!
A recent study by the University of Michigan found EVs cost less than half as much to operate as a gas-powered car. Cities across the country are realizing big savings for taxpayers as they transition public bus fleets to EVs, while businesses large and small are incorporating EV fleets into everyday use to help reduce operating costs.

Industry experts estimate EVs will reach nearly 60% of total new vehicle sales in the U.S. by 2050. And each year, automakers announce a wider range of vehicle types, plus nearly all models now have a range of 150 miles or more per charge. So, what are you waiting for?

But we’re not just offering ways for our business customers to adopt EVs, MidAmerican Energy is also expanding our use of the latest transportation technology. We have launched a comprehensive workplace EV charging plan that allows us to study the impacts of EVs on the electric grid and determine interest among our employees for charging capabilities at our facilities.
