SPONSOR: The sponsor of the MidAmerican Energy Cares Daily Donation Drawing (“Sweepstakes”) is MidAmerican Energy Company, 666 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA (“MidAmerican Energy”).

TERM: The online Sweepstakes begins August 10, 2023, at 8 a.m. Central Time and ends August 19, 2023, 8 p.m. Central Time. Sweepstakes entries may also be completed in-person on equipment available at the MidAmerican Energy building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds (300 E. Grand Ave, Des Moines, Iowa 50317) August 10, 2023, 9 a.m. through August 19, 2022, 8 p.m. The grand prize drawing will take place August 20, 2023.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE: The Sweepstakes is free to enter and open to the public, including customers and non-customers, who have reached the age of majority. Employees and immediate family members of MidAmerican Energy are eligible to participate.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: To enter the Sweepstakes, participants must submit their name and email address along with the name of a Qualified Non-Profit, the city and state it resides in, and its service category. Responses that do not include all the required information are not eligible for the donation drawing. In-person electronic submissions will be accepted each day beginning at 9 a.m. at the MidAmerican Energy building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds (300 E. Grand Ave, Des Moines, Iowa 50317) and ending when the building closes. Submissions will follow through the entire Sweepstakes; entries will not be reset each day.

QUALIFIED NON-PROFITS: Qualified Non-Profits include any IRS 501(c)3 non-faith based organization operating in MidAmerican Energy’s service territory providing services in the categories of Community Enhancement, Arts and Culture, Environmental Respect, Education/STEM, or Safety and Wellness, as determined solely by MidAmerican Energy. Fraternal organizations with membership-based dues, individual sports teams or team walks are not considered Qualified Non-Profits.  

AWARD: Qualified Non-Profits in the Sweepstakes are eligible for a random daily drawing from August 10, 2023, through August 19, 2023. The selected organization will receive a $1,000 donation from MidAmerican Energy. On August 20, 2023, a drawing for $10,000 will be held among the recipients selected for the $1,000 daily awards. The odds of Qualified Non-Profits being selected for a donation depend on the total number of eligible entries in the Sweepstakes. An organization is only eligible for one $1,000 award, and the $10,000 grand prize if drawn as one of the 10 $1,000 winners. MidAmerican Energy will announce the organizations on social media channels like Facebook and Twitter and will notify the recipients in writing via email and U.S. Mail. A list of entities receiving donations may be obtained by sending a request to MidAmerican Energy via email at corporatecommunications@midamerican.com or by mailing your request along with a self-addressed stamped envelope to: MidAmerican Energy, Attn: Corporate Communications, PO Box 657, DSM, IA 50306-0657 to be received no later than August 25, 2023.

CONDITIONS: In the event any selected winner is ineligible, refuses the award, cannot be located or does not respond within 10 days to the notification, the award may be forfeited and MidAmerican Energy, in its sole discretion, may choose whether to give the award to another participant. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Participants are helping MidAmerican Energy determine donations that will be made to organizations within MidAmerican Energy’s four-state service territory. 

AGREEMENT TO RULES: By participating, you agree to be fully unconditionally bound by the Sweepstakes Rules as outlined and you represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements set forth herein. In addition, you agree to accept the decisions of MidAmerican Energy as final and binding as it relates to the content and donations made to eligible organizations. The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws, Iowa State Fair rules, and is void where prohibited by law. MidAmerican Energy reserves the right to amend, expand or discontinue this Sweepstakes at any time, to waive any technical formalities and to make such interpretations in the administration of the Sweepstakes and award of donations as may be required.
