South Dakota energy efficiency programs ending December 31, 2019
An important cornerstone of energy efficiency programs is that they are cost-effective. This means that in order for customers to pay for these programs, they must deliver benefits that are greater than the costs of providing the programs. After extensive review and evaluation, it’s been determined that MidAmerican Energy’s South Dakota energy efficiency programs are no longer cost-effective. Therefore, after much discussion with and authorization from the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission, MidAmerican Energy will discontinue energy efficiency programs in South Dakota on December 31, 2019.
Customers will be able to submit rebate applications for qualifying equipment installed and invoiced in 2019 until January 31, 2020. MidAmerican Energy will process rebate applications received on or before January 31, 2020, on a first-come, first-served basis and until funding is depleted.
Although formal energy efficiency programs and rebates will no longer be available starting in January 2020, customers will continue to benefit from implementing energy efficiency improvements in their homes and businesses that reduce their energy consumption and provide real dollar savings on their energy bill.
Do you have an older working refrigerator or freezer in your basement or garage? Rebates are available if you’re a MidAmerican Energy electric customer.
