Fort Dodge Community and MidAmerican Energy Officially Mark New Service Center With Beam Signing

DES MOINES, Iowa – (December 19, 2017) – Community leaders and MidAmerican Energy officials gathered today at the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance to celebrate the company’s construction of a new customer office and service center in the Decker Industrial Park.

The new, 72,000 square-foot Fort Dodge Customer Office and Service Center is more than double MidAmerican Energy’s current space in Fort Dodge. The new facility will consolidate various work groups into a single location, improving efficiency and cooperation to provide customers with exceptional service throughout the region.

“We are looking forward to providing our customers in the Fort Dodge area with a one-stop shop where we can continue to provide the highest level of service they deserve and expect,” said Jim Dougherty, vice president of electric delivery for MidAmerican Energy. “We are also investing in our employees by ensuring they have the equipment and facilities they need to safely and efficiently deliver on our promise of ‘obsessively, relentlessly at your service.’”

The new facility will sit on 20 acres and is the first building in the Decker Industrial Park to be constructed. MidAmerican Energy broke ground on the site in October and the facility is expected to open in September 2018.

“MidAmerican continues to play an integral role in the development and betterment of Fort Dodge and the state of Iowa,” said Fort Dodge Mayor Matt Bemrich. “I am excited about MidAmerican’s expansion in our community through their new office and service center.”

Dennis Plautz, CEO of the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance, added, “MidAmerican’s new office and service center will be a tremendous addition to Fort Dodge and to the service they provide through the company’s partnership program. Many people do not know how much MidAmerican partners with the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance in promoting economic development and assisting in our efforts. I’d like to express my appreciation for all they do through their investment in our community which enhances our entire region.”

Community leaders in attendance signed a steel beam that will be used in the new building, along with another beam signed earlier in the day by MidAmerican’s local employees.

The existing service center facility, located at 301 South 25th Street, was constructed in 1958. MidAmerican Energy has been proudly serving Fort Dodge and the surrounding communities for decades.
