MidAmerican Energy Seeks Names for Falcon Chicks

DES MOINES, Iowa – May 21, 2014 – MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking help from the public to name the Peregrine falcon chicks that recently hatched in nesting boxes located outside its Davenport office building and Louisa Generating Station near Muscatine.

Beginning today, potential names for the young falcons may be submitted via MidAmerican Energy’s Facebook page, which can be accessed at www.midamericanenergy.com. Both male and female name submissions will be accepted until June 2 at 1 p.m.

The name of the Davenport falcon chick will be selected and announced June 3, when the Iowa Department of Natural Resources determines the sex of the falcon during the banding ceremony. The names selected for the Louisa falcons will be announced on Facebook and Twitter in early June. The individuals who submit the names selected for the falcon chicks will receive a MidAmerican Energy gift bag and a photograph of their respective falcon.

The Davenport nesting box can be viewed online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through live streaming video on the WQAD News 8 website at www.wqad.com/falcon-cam.
