MidAmerican Energy Ranks Highest Among Large Utilities in the Midwest in 2012 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study

DES MOINES, Iowa – (July 11, 2012) – MidAmerican Energy Company’s customers have again given high marks to the company for excellent customer satisfaction.

Today, J.D. Power and Associates announced the results of its 2012 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Studysm, and for the fifth consecutive year, MidAmerican Energy ranked highest in the Midwest Region-Large Segment for overall customer satisfaction.

“We believe our attention to detail translates to high customer satisfaction,” said Terry Ousley, vice president, customer satisfaction. “We continuously communicate with our customers about everything from power restorations and payment options to energy efficiency tips and rebate programs.”

The J.D. Power and Associates study evaluated 126 of the largest electric utilities in the U.S. for overall residential customer satisfaction, based on performance in the areas of power quality and reliability, price, billing and payment, corporate citizenship, communications, and customer service.

Whether they are working in the field, restoring electrical service during an outage, operating power plants, handling customer calls, or providing support services, our employees want to exceed our customers’ expectations in every interaction,” Ousley added.

Results of the study are based on responses from more than 100,000 online interviews conducted with residential utility customers between July 2011 and May 2012.

In 2012, residential customer satisfaction with electric utility companies averaged 625 on a 1,000-point scale. MidAmerican Energy’s score was 666, ranking highest in the Midwest Region-Large Segment on all six key factors of customer satisfaction.
