12th Annual Autism Awareness Walk

12th Annual Autism Awareness Walk, Sunday, April 22, Registration 1PM, Walk starts at 3PM. The Siouxland Autism Support Group is a nonprofit organization that is run by parent volunteers to provide information and support for individuals and families living with ASD otherwise known as Autism Spectrum Disorder, in the Tri-State area. Our board is a mixture of parents, autism experts from NWAEA and community members. Funds raised from this event and all of our events go to help educate families, teachers and support staff that work with children and adults on the spectrum. We also provide social events for families to offer them a safe place to introduce their child to experience that could be difficult for them.

Everybody Wins! Iowa Trivia Night

Everybody Wins! Iowa is hosting a Trivia Night on Thursday April 26th from 7-9PM. The event will be held at Noce 1326 Walnut Street. We are looking for volunteers to help with setup, tear down, registration and as scorers. Setup is from 2:30-5PM and tear down is from 9-10:30. Fresh Start Benefit Sale, Davenport

Help the homeless we serve by shopping at the Fresh Start Benefit Sale, Friday April 27th 8am to 4pm & Saturday April 28th 9am to 3pm., at 3805 Mississippi Ave. Davenport. Furniture, antiques, collectibles, clothing, housewares, toys and much much more will be available! Humility of Mary Housing provides housing and support for 37 families with children and Humility of Mary Shelter supports 70 adults daily. The proceeds from this Benefit Sale are used to support the individuals recovering from homelessness that we serve. Support a great cause and get great bargains too! See you at the Sale!

Spring Clean Up, Urbandale

The Urbandale Community Action Network (UCAN) is seeking volunteers for the annual Urbandale Spring Clean-Up. This year’s clean-up will take place on Saturday, April 28nd, 2018. We will be helping seniors and the disabled clean their yards-up and get ready for a great spring and summer! Volunteers help elderly and disabled Urbandale residents prepare for summer by cleaning out flower beds, raking yards, trimming bushes and other general yard work. Volunteers should meet at the Lion’s Park shelter house at 72nd & Prairie in Urbandale at 8am for a light breakfast and provide their own work gloves, rakes and trimmers! Following your morning of volunteering, join us for a quick lunch before you enjoy the rest of your day!

Sound the Alarm

Volunteers are needed throughout the Quad Cities Region to assist with smoke alarm installations and educating residents on the importance of having a home fire escape plan. We are recruiting volunteers for appointment-based installation teams and rally event installation teams. Volunteers will receive training and will work in teams of three. For more information about volunteering for the Home Fire Campaign, please email Bryce.Goff@redcross.org or www.redcross.org/csil-homefire Ways to Help There are a variety of ways to help at this event. Please see below for a general description of these options and indicate any preference you have in terms of how you'd like to help us on the day of the event. Volunteer Safety Educator: Educates the family on fire safety and assists with completing a disaster plan while the smoke alarms are being installed. This volunteer should be comfortable speaking with a wide variety of individuals. Volunteer Smoke Alarm Installer: Installs smoke alarms in homes during the canvassing event. This volunteer should be comfortable using a ladder and a power drill. Volunteer Documenter: Records information about each home and the number of alarms installed. This person should be comfortable completing basic paperwork.
