DES MOINES, Iowa – (July 17, 2012) – With record-setting temperatures in the forecast again this week, MidAmerican Energy Company is utilizing social media to send information customers can use to stay cool. Today, MidAmerican Energy will launch its Stay Cool Twitter contest to remind people how to reduce their energy usage yet still stay comfortable during hot weather.

Energy saving tips will be sent from MidAmerican Energy’s Twitter account July 17-20 at noon. When people retweet the message to their followers and include @MidAm_EnergyCo in their post, they will be eligible for a daily drawing. All retweets must be sent prior to 4:30 p.m. each day to qualify. A daily winner will be selected at random, and the winner will be announced on MidAmerican Energy’s Twitter page at 5 p.m. Prizes include tickets to the 2012 Iowa State Fair, tickets to an Iowa Cubs game, and MidAmerican Energy merchandise. Participants will be allowed one contest entry per day.
