Service Requests

Start, transfer and stop service. New and existing customers can start, transfer and stop MidAmerican Energy Company gas and/or electric service online. Simply choose the option that's right for you, complete the corresponding service application as prompted, and we'll take care of the rest.

Note: To transfer or stop MidAmerican Energy gas and/or electric service online, you must have or establish a MidAmerican Energy Web account. Selecting the transfer service or stop service link will direct you to the Web account portion of our website. Third Party Authorization. MidAmerican Energy's customer authorization form offers account holders the ability to delegate certain rights to authorized parties concerning their MidAmerican Energy account(s)/services(s). Once completed and on file with MidAmerican Energy, the customer-authorized third party can receive account information or transact business with MidAmerican Energy on the customer's behalf.

Forestry services. Keeping with MidAmerican Energy's philosophy to prune or remove trees to maintain electric safety and reliability in an environmentally responsible manner, MidAmerican Energy customers can request tree services designed to alleviate electrical hazards and improve service reliability. If trimming trees yourself, check for nearby power lines before you begin working. If you, your equipment or branches make contact with power lines, you can be seriously injured. Call MidAmerican Energy at 888-427-5632, and we will make it safe for you to trim your trees.

Property Restoration. After MidAmerican Energy completes work in the field, we make every effort to restore a customer’s property to its original condition. Once our work is done, we notify our qualified landscaping contractors to complete all repairs. Typically, this work is completed within 20 business days. Our contractor may leave behind tips on watering grass seed or sod, depending on the type of repairs made.

Security lighting. At a customer's request, MidAmerican Energy can provide and install, free of charge, pole-mounted security lights to customers who receive their electric service from MidAmerican Energy.

Security lights are billed on a standard monthly rate, dependent upon bulb wattage. Poles and each span of wire, measured from pole to pole, are billed separately each month. Once installed, repairs to security lights are made at no charge to the customer.
