Make a Boundary

  • Safety clearance boundaries can prevent power line contacts.
Make a portable safety barrier to keep workers and equipment a safe distance from overhead lines. Federal laws stipulate at least 10 feet of clearance from high-voltage lines. State and local laws can be even more restrictive. The higher the voltage in the lines, the greater the clearance requirements.
  • If you will be working in close proximity to overhead power lines, notify your electric utility in advance to determine the voltage and safe work distances and to find out if special safety arrangements are required.
