MidAmerican Energy Ranks Highest in the Midwest in J.D. Power and Associates 2013 Gas Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study

DES MOINES, Iowa – (Sept. 23, 2013) – For the second year in a row, MidAmerican Energy Company ranked highest in the Midwest Region-Large Segment for overall customer satisfaction in the J.D. Power and Associates 2013 Gas Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM.

The J.D. Power and Associates study evaluated 74 of the largest natural gas utilities in the U.S. for overall residential customer satisfaction, based on performance in the areas of billing and payment, price, corporate citizenship, communications, customer service, and field service.

Results of the study are based on more than 64,600 responses from residential customers between September 2012 and July 2013.

In 2013, residential customer satisfaction with natural gas utility companies averaged 640 nationally on a 1,000-point scale. MidAmerican Energy’s score was 670, ranking the company highest in the Midwest Region-Large Segment. With that score, the company also tied for second in the nation out of 74 utilities included in the study.

Earlier this year, MidAmerican Energy was ranked highest in overall customer satisfaction in the Midwest Region by its business natural gas customers in the J.D. Power and Associates 2013 Gas Utility Business Customer Satisfaction StudySM. MidAmerican Energy also was ranked highest in overall customer satisfaction in the Midwest Region-Large Segment by its residential electric customers in the J.D. Power and Associates 2013 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM.
