DES MOINES, Iowa – (May 23, 2013) – MidAmerican Energy Company is asking the public to help name Peregrine falcon chicks that recently hatched in nesting boxes at its Davenport office building and Louisa Generating Station in Muscatine.
Starting today, potential names for the falcon young can be submitted via MidAmerican Energy’s Facebook page, which can be accessed at www.midamericanenergy.com. Both male and female name submissions will be accepted until May 28 at 1 p.m.
The name of the Davenport falcon will be selected and announced May 29, when the Iowa Department of Natural Resources determines the sex of the falcon and bands the chick. The names of the Louisa Generating Station falcons will be announced on Facebook and Twitter, after the chicks are banded in early June. The individual who submits the name that is selected for each falcon will receive a MidAmerican Energy gift bag and a photograph of his or her respective falcon.
The Davenport Peregrine falcons and their young can be viewed online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through live streaming video on WQAD-TV’s website at www.wqad.com/falcon-cam. This is the second year MidAmerican Energy has partnered with WQAD-TV to provide live video to the public.
