Meter Reads and AMR

View an August 2007 television news story about automated meter reading.

Will I see meter readers in my area once AMR is installed?
Once the AMR system is fully operational in your area, we will no longer have traditional meter readers. However, you may see our personnel driving through your neighborhood to obtain meter reads. You will continue to see meter readers and other field personnel in your area for general maintenance on MidAmerican equipment and to perform service orders that require action at the meter.

I currently read my own meter(s) and call in the reading. Do I still need to do that?
Once a meter(s) have been installed and/or updated, monthly reads no longer need to be called in.

Once AMR is installed, will MidAmerican ever need access to the meter?
Yes. MidAmerican will still need access for compliance and service work on your meter(s). Service personnel also will need access to turn meters on or off when a connection or disconnection of service is requested.
