Meter Reading

MidAmerican Energy Company makes every
effort to read your meter and is committed to providing accurate and timely
bills. One way to avoid estimated bills is by ensuring safe access to MidAmerican-owned
meters. View the 2008 Meter Read Schedule
to determine scheduled meter read dates. Occasionally, service personnel
may not be able to obtain a meter read due to weather conditions, impassable
roads, illness or difficulty in gaining access to a customer's property.
When that happens, avoid an estimated bill by entering a meter read online
or by calling MidAmerican's automated meter read line at 800-432-6420.
Enter a meter read(s) by
logging in to
My Web Account.
To submit a read, you must know what type of meter you have and how to read it.
For assistance, select the How to Read a Meter or Practice
button.
To assist in accessing meters at multi-unit
buildings, a MidAmerican-owned lock box containing a customer-provided key for
service personnel can be
installed.
To ensure the safety of service
personnel:
 |
 |
Keep animals leashed, restrained or confined. |
 |
 |
Make sure the path to the meter is free of hazards, holes and construction materials.
|
 |
 |
Make sure steps and doors are in good repair. |
 |
 |
Clear ice/snow from walks and steps. |
 |
 |
Have meters free of obstacles or debris. |
If you are unsure as to the type of
meter(s) at
a given location(s) or have questions
regarding a lock box, e-mail
business advantage at businessadv@midamerican.com, or call
800-329-6261. Specialists are available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., excluding
holidays, to assist you.
