Forestry Services
Community Activities

MidAmerican
Energy is involved with a number of tree-related community activities to promote beautification
of our service areas and increase energy efficiency through shade and
windbreaks. One popular program is referred to as Keep Cool at School.
With thousands of trees pruned or removed annually to ensure electric
reliability, tons of wood chips are produced that make excellent mulch.
To assist with recycling this material, the wood chips are provided to
schools and other organizations. Groups can then bag the mulch and use
it for various fundraisers. None of the waste resulting from our tree
trimming is sent to a landfill.
Energy Efficiency's Trees
Please! program offers tree-planting grants to local communities
to purchase trees. MidAmerican also supports the Trees for Kids and Trees
for Teens programs that are administered by the Iowa Department of Natural
Resources and help children learn about the value of trees.
MidAmerican is committed to the beautification of our communities
and strives to promote the benefits of trees, including improved air quality and
better energy efficiency. |
