MidAmerican Energy values the relationships we have
with our trade allies. Our goal is to provide resources to help you market and
deliver energy-efficient products and services to your customers. Working
together, we can educate our mutual customers about the value and importance
of energy efficiency. Greater customer awareness helps you sell
energy-efficient equipment and increases participation in MidAmerican's
energy efficiency programs.
MidAmerican uses the following tools to recognize and support your needs:
MidAmerican recently updated its 2009 residential equipment program
rebate form. Please use
this form for your customers. The HERS rating
field verification form also has been updated.
Throughout 2009, MidAmerican will introduce several new
programs, including:
 |
 |
Education: promotes energy
efficiency awareness among customers and trade allies. The program will include
outreach to and training for trade allies in areas such as the InstallAdvantagesm and
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® programs, efficient water heaters, new technologies
and more. |
 |
 |
InstallAdvantage: offers bonus
incentives for customers and trade allies installing efficient heating and cooling
systems that meet specific requirements for equipment sizing, air flow and refrigerant
charge. MidAmerican will announce the specific details and requirements for this
program in the coming weeks. |
 |
 |
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR: pilot program
which offers customers a comprehensive, custom approach to increasing the efficiency of
their homes. In 2009, MidAmerican will offer training for trade allies interested
in participating in this program and will launch the program initially in Des Moines
and Iowa City during the third quarter. |
 |
 |
Appliance Recycling: offers
incentives to encourage customers to replace old, inefficient refrigerators, freezers
and room air conditioners and providing free pick up and disposal of the old units in
an environmentally responsible manner. |
 |
 |
Multifamily: provides incentives
and services to help multifamily property owners, property managers, landlords and
renters improve the efficiency of their existing buildings. |
 |
 |
Agribusiness: provides free energy
audits, technical support and financial incentives to help agribusiness customers
improve the efficiency of new and existing facilities. |
Thank you for your continued support of MidAmerican's energy
efficiency programs and for your valuable input during development of the new programs
and changes to existing programs. We look forward to a continued and growing partnership
with you as we work together to provide energy-efficient solutions to our mutual
customers in 2009 and beyond.
A May 6, 2009, press release issued by the National Fenestration Rating Council® explains
changes to federal income tax credit qualification requirements for windows, doors and skylights,
effective June 1, 2009. MidAmerican requires that windows have a U-factor of 0.35 or less to qualify
for EnergyAdvantage Financing. MidAmerican does not have a solar heat gain coefficient requirement
for windows for EnergyAdvantage Financing, and this is consistent with ENERGY STAR®'s qualification
criteria for windows in the northern climate zone. Iowa is in the northern climate zone as defined
by the U.S. Department of Energy.
Prior to June 1, 2009, windows that qualify for EnergyAdvantage Financing from MidAmerican also meet
the qualifying criteria for federal tax credits related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Tax Act of 2009. On and after June 1, 2009, not all windows that qualify for EnergyAdvantage Financing
will meet the qualification requirements for federal tax credits. Regardless of climate zone, the
qualifying criteria for federal tax credit windows will be more stringent than the criteria for
EnergyAdvantage Financing. Additional information is available at
energystar.gov.

MidAmerican has increased rebate amounts on certain qualifying energy efficiency equipment
retroactive from May 25, 2008, through June 30, 2009, for Iowa customers impacted by a natural
disaster. The
revised rebate schedule is shown, as is the current residential
equipment program rebate form.
We value your assistance, and thank you for your continued support of MidAmerican's
