 MidAmerican Energy is
offering the Iowa communities we serve an opportunity to apply for tree-planting grants. Trees Please! promotes energy efficiency by providing windbreaks and shade while beautifying parks, roadways and other common areas within communities both large and small. At the same time, planting trees improves air quality and helps protect and nourish the soil.
The amount of each community’s grant will be determined after we receive all applications. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of project merit, benefit to the community and ability to obtain matching funds.
MidAmerican has been recognized for their outstanding service to Iowa's
children in the area of environmental awareness through their participation
in the Department of Natural Resources' Trees for Kids and Teens program.
Since 1994, MidAmerican has contributed $360,000 for the printing and
distribution of educational materials and demonstration tree-planting
projects. In 2007, MidAmerican helped to establish more than 62,933 new
trees at Iowa schools in its service territory.
