Service Territory

The MidAmerican Energy Company service territory offers advantages that few
areas of the country can match. It is composed of 10,600 square miles in Iowa,
Illinois, Nebraska and South Dakota with a total population of
approximately 2 million. The combination of geography, distance to major markets, business
climate, population and a strong, stable utility gives businesses and
communities the foundation they need to succeed.
Distance to Major Cities
The service territory offers easy access to market via I-80 and I-35, two of
the most-used interstate highways in the nation. More than 40 million customers live
within one day's drive, reachable by these two interstate highways as well as
I-29, I-74 and I-90.
Rail Network
In addition to highways and waterways, the service territory also is served by
the following railroads:

Air Travel

River on the
west and the Mississippi River on the east. In total, 16 riverside cities have
shipping capacities,
making shipments via river easy and cost effective.
Higher Education
More than 30 four-year
public and private colleges
and universities lie within our service region, many of which are nationally
ranked for their academic programs.
