Customer Guide: Making a Choice

Factors to consider –
Choice should be based on needs and preferences. Factors to consider may include how or where the electricity is produced, economic or environmental issues, the lowest price or the best combination of prices, services and incentives.
Possible benefits – Competition naturally involves rivalry among firms for customers, with each offering particular benefits. These benefits might include a lower price or a better quality product or service. Compare prices, charges and services.
Delivery of your power remains the same – As a local electric
utility, MidAmerican Energy continues to be responsible for providing
a reliable distribution system and electric delivery service.
Customers can count on the same reliable delivery service from MidAmerican, no matter who
supplies or generates the electricity.
How to find a new supplier – To serve MidAmerican customers, a supplier must
be certified by the Illinois Commerce Commission and also must register with
MidAmerican as a supplier. There currently are no suppliers registered with MidAmerican to serve customers
within MidAmerican's service territory.
A list of suppliers currently certified is available on the Illinois Commerce
Commission's Web site.
