HVAC Itemized Rebates
MidAmerican Energy Company requires all rebate applications for HVAC equipment to include an invoice with the itemized cost of each major piece of HVAC equipment being submitted for a rebate. This includes – but is not limited to – air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps and programmable thermostats. If there is not an itemized cost provided, there will be no rebate.

This requirement allows MidAmerican Energy to accurately report and justify the ongoing energy efficiency savings and the associated costs with each rebated item and to verify that we do not pay rebates in excess of cost of the installed equipment.

Spray Foam Insulation
MidAmerican Energy Company has revised the language for acceptable materials for attic and sidewall insulation in the Iowa and Illinois 2014 Energy Efficiency Rebate Information For Your Business booklets under qualifications on the Building Shell pages. Revised language is: All conventional insulation materials are eligible for rebates. No additional rebate is given for more expensive alternative insulation materials such as spray foam.

Spray foam does qualify for sidewall insulation. The project must be brought up to current Iowa or Illinois Energy Code, based on the building type using the R-value specified by the spray foam manufacturer, to qualify for a rebate. There must be no existing insulation installed to participate, and there are no rebates for sidewall insulation above Iowa or Illinois Energy Code.

There are instances when spray foam insulation can be used below deck in existing buildings and qualifies for a rebate, as long as the proper R-value is attained as directed by the current Iowa or Illinois Energy Code.
