HomeCheck® On-Sitearrows

A free energy audit of your Iowa home, built before Dec. 31, 2001, can lead to significant savings for years to come.

The first step toward making your home more energy efficient is to give it an inspection with MidAmerican Energy's EnergyAdvantage® HomeCheck program. Not only is the energy audit by a MidAmerican Energy energy specialist free, so are several energy-saving improvements that may be implemented at the time of the audit.

How Does it Work?
The specialist will provide you with a report of the condition of your home's insulation, heating and cooling efficiency, water heating equipment and the condition of your windows. This report can then be used as a guide for implementing energy-efficient improvements. Free improvements that may be made at the time of assessment include:
  • A water heater insulation blanket
  • Six feet of water pipe insulation
  • Up to two energy-saving faucet aerators
  • Up to two energy-saving shower heads
  • Energy-efficient light bulbs
The energy specialist will examine the existing insulation level in your home. If the home qualifies for insulation rebates, the specialist will recommend insulation with rebates up to 70 percent or $750 for attic, sidewall and foundation. The energy specialist also can install a programmable thermostat for $30 plus tax.

Getting Started
Those who qualify for HomeCheck must be residential customers in Iowa who live in and own – or landlords who own – homes or mobile homes built before Dec. 31, 2001, whose primary heating energy is supplied directly by MidAmerican Energy. If you are interested in decreasing immediate and long-term energy costs, make an appointment with an energy specialist by calling 800-545-0762 to arrange for your free HomeCheck. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Don't forget, we can help you pay for the improvements! MidAmerican Energy and First American Bank have teamed up to offer you a competitive interest rate financing program.

Request a free on-site audit or perform an online energy audit for your home.

Energy-efficient light bulbs are available only to MidAmerican Energy's electric customers. For proper disposal of compact fluorescent light bulbs, visit www.energystar.gov. Water heating efficiency measures are applied only to equipment using energy supplied by MidAmerican Energy. Other restrictions may apply. Please call to verify your eligibility.
