Money for Motors Program
Save money and increase your facility’s reliability by replacing an antiquated motor
before it fails and shuts down your operation.
MidAmerican Energy will offer a bounty to customers who remove and environmentally dispose
of old, inefficient 1 to 500 horsepower motors. If the replacement motor meets specific energy efficiency
requirements, an additional rebate may be available for the new motor. A rebate is offered to the motor
distributor to help with the recycling process and lessen the burden on the owner. The old motor must be
taken out of service to qualify for the bounty.
This program has been successful in moving older, inefficient motors off the electrical grid and
installing new efficient units in their place; however, the program will be discontinued at year-end 2013.
Important program dates:
- The last day to submit an application is Nov. 29, 2013
- Motor projects must be completed by Dec. 31, 2013
- Site verifications must be completed by Dec. 31, 2013
- Final paperwork must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2014
Newly installed motors must be site-verified by MidAmerican Energy to be eligible for a rebate. Please allow
time to meet this requirement. Applications submitted after Nov. 29, 2013, and motor projects completed after
Dec. 31, 2013, will not be eligible for a rebate.
