BusinessCheck® On-Sitearrows

If your business is in search of free and easy ways to lower your monthly energy bill, look no further than MidAmerican Energy's BusinessCheck program. If you own a qualifying small business, the BusinessCheck energy audit can start reducing energy costs immediately and can provide additional ways to save on future energy costs – and it won't cost a thing!

Who Qualifies?
All small buildings located in Iowa that receive electricity and/or natural gas supplied directly from MidAmerican Energy are eligible to be enrolled in the BusinessCheck program, including small retail businesses, restaurants, small office buildings, governmental organizations, churches, health care facilities and other for-profit and nonprofit organizations' small buildings. This program is designed to evaluate energy use in buildings up to 50,000 sq.ft. For energy audits of larger facilities, select Nonresidential Energy Analysis to learn more about MidAmerican Energy's larger facilities energy analysis program.

What is a BusinessCheck Energy Audit?
It is an evaluation of how your small business uses energy and includes specific recommendations on ways you can use energy more efficiently and reduce your monthly energy bill.

Customers have the option to allow installation of energy-saving measures during or following audits such as:
  • Hot water pipe insulation
  • Low-flow, high-pressure faucet aerators
  • Compact fluorescent bulbs, including 3-way and dimmable
  • LED exit sign retrofit kits
  • Refrigerated vending machine controller
  • Commercial kitchen pre-rinse sprayer
Additional measures may be offered for installation during audits as further demonstration of proven technologies that help save energy and reduce energy costs. MidAmerican Energy provides rebates for the implementation of qualifying energy management opportunities recommended by the energy auditor (e.g., lighting and insulation). Many rebates for new or replacement equipment are for approximately 50 to 70 percent of the higher incremental cost of the high-efficiency equipment when compared to purchase and installation costs associated with standard equipment.
