UNDERLYING LOAD FORECAST ASSUMPTIONS

MidAmerican Energy utilizes a local weather forecasting firm to derive five weather variables which are used in the calculation of forecasted peak load data. These factors include:

  1. Temperature
  2. Dew Point
  3. Wind Speed
  4. Sun Percentage
  5. Barometric Pressure.

Additionally, these five weather variables are calculated for five cities across the MidAmerican service territory. These cities include:

  1. Davenport
  2. Des Moines
  3. Omaha, Nebraska
  4. Sioux City
  5. Waterloo

Further, MidAmerican’s load forecasting program utilizes correlation measures to take into account expected load growth in the calculation of forecasted peak load data.

Finally, MidAmerican does not utilize economic assumptions in its calculation of forecasted peak load data.
